Halloween is upon us!

I have always been "into" Halloween. I'm not sure if its the candy, costumes, scary night, combination of it all, I'm not sure. I think lately I have been more into it due to the fact that I have 6, yes...count them 6 nieces and nephews and one more niece on the way (due in a few weeks actually)!! We moved to Michigan 2 years ago and I missed out on the kids' Halloween and was ultimately sad both years from around Halloween until spring due to the fact that there is also Thanksgiving, and Christmas, which is one of my nephews birthdays back to back. So it was needless to say tough for me, especially being around them since they were born, then picked up and moved to a different time zone and couldn't just drive a couple minutes or hours to see them (drive was 15 hours). Now that we are back I am SOOOOO looking forward to seeing all "my" kiddos dressed up looking scary, cute, tough, fast, etc! As well as taking them trick or treating (my favorite). Sort of starts me thinking to when Brett (my hubby) & I have kids. How excited will I be then??!! ;o)

(the 6 of them last Halloween, sorry its sorta blurry)

a Japanese girl, a Ninja, a Gypsy, 2 dragons and a cute crying pumpkin ;)

Hey Danielle,

I really like your blog. Your last two posts really struck a chord with me. Halloween is also my favorite time of year, and my baby girl will be experiencing her first one this year! We also moved away from our East Coast family 12 years ago to go to CA, and we're now thinking every day about returning home. Having kids rearranges your priorities for sure, as I hope you'll find out one day.

Anyway, I hope this is cool, but I found you while searching for Wichita-area bloggers, and I kind of had this weird favor to ask you...

I'm a writer and cartoonist and my brand new syndicated comic strip - "DeFlocked" (endorsed by Larry David) - is one of several new comics up for a vote in your daily paper, The Eagle. I'm earnestly looking for some local support.

Would you mind checking out my strip at www.deflocked.com, and, if you like my sense of humor, maybe go here and pull the lever for DeFlocked: http://www.kansas.com/comicssurvey/
It would only take a second, and it would be a HUGE help to me. They also seem to let you vote as often as you like.

Voting ends November 1, so if you could - PLEASE spread the word!!

Thanks, Danielle - I really really appreciate it. Have a great rest of the week and enjoy your extended brood on Halloween!
