Today my husband and I have been married for 2 years. We were married on a beautiful, crisp, sunny November afternoon( 4:30 to be exact)!!! I can remember the events of the day so vividly: up around 8:30ish to go with the girls to get their hair and mine done. Figure out where Hubby to be was to watch our baby girl (our dog). Gather veil and other odds and ends to keep me occupied while sitting for HOURS (literally). Getting a phone call saying the Flower Lady (nice title I know) was waiting at the venue for someone, OOPS! Mom, rushing back to the hotel to get some of her stuff together and rush to the venue, which was VERY close thank goodness for the KC Plaza, everything is RIGHT THERE! The girls getting their makeup done, then me...........! I was NOT, I repeat NOT, happy with my makeup!! I looked like clown town, for real! After I paid, didn't want to deal with anything more, I started to wipe the "clown town" off my face with my jacket. We pile into the car and head back to the hotel, load all our stuff in multiple cars (my dress, girls dresses, moms dress, makeup, shoes, after clothes, etc), then FINALLY head to the venue!!!
As we pull in we see Brett (hubby to be) and all the men outside drinking beers and chatting. The girls yell at the boys to go inside so I can come in. I didn't think anything of it. The boys get Brett into the kitchen and I sneak into the place and jump into the elevator. THATS WHEN ALL THE DRAMA STARTED ;o) As I was getting into my dress the cake lady wants her check, the photographer wants pictures, the girls need help locating things (and since I was organized I was the only one that knew where things were at, SERIOUSLY!). One of the Jr. Bridesmaid, my gorgeous niece Lindi, had misplaced her dress and was sobbing and sobbing! I was not freaking out, weird I know! I just told her "if you have to walk down that isle in your jeans and hoodie, then so be it" and I was truthful. God knows I sure as heck wanted to do that same thing ;o). My friends mom, so sweet, went back to the hotel to search her room and FOUND THE DRESS!!!!! Brought the "missing" dress back and Lindi was ready to go. I paid for the cake, got some pictures done and helped the girls with their dresses and finished with mine.
I look at all the pictures and I have this goofy smile on my face, but thats okay and I don't care. I was so excited and ready to be joined with him for the rest of my life. I'm not too emotional and hold in my feelings at times and try not to cry, but I couldn't help it. I was feeling so much joy and excitement and being so overwhelmed I just let loose when I was saying my vows. I could barely say a couple words, but started to laugh because I was crying and then it was all good. We both got through them and now we are husband and wife as declared by the goofy minister that reminds me and my cousin of the guy off Princess Bride "Mawage. Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday..." Of course at the time I didn't notice his weird voice and whatnot, but I could hear my cousin behind me laughing and trying not to laugh myself. I heard her say something along the lines of "mawage...." and then it was so hard not to bust out laughing. As we all walked back down the isle and had a chance to "breathe" and relax, my cousin and I thought we were going to not be able to make it to the bathroom we were laughing so hard about the "mawage....", but we did (lol). The ceremony was over it was time to start our lives together!! I am so incredibly happy and thank God everyday for the gifts in my life!!
